The contract terms covering any copywriting, content writing or related services from Sage Writers. Short version: fair scope, two revisions, IP transfers on payment.
These terms govern any copywriting or content services provided by Sage Writers (trading name of Bijal Shah, sole trader, Birmingham). By commissioning work, you agree to these terms unless we’ve signed a separate written agreement.
Each project is scoped in a written quote or statement of work, which specifies the deliverables, timeline and fee. Anything outside that scope is a separate project at additional cost. I’ll always flag scope creep before working on it.
Projects over £1,000 require a 50% deposit before work begins. Final invoices are due 14 days from issue. Late payments accrue statutory interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate. Recurring retainers are invoiced at the start of each calendar month.
Two rounds of revisions are included in every project unless otherwise specified. Additional revision rounds are billed at my hourly rate (£75/hr) or as agreed.
You can cancel a project at any time; deposits cover work already completed and are non-refundable. If I cancel a project (rare), any deposit is refunded pro-rata for work not yet delivered.
Copyright in the finished work transfers to you upon final payment. Until then, all rights remain with Bijal Shah. I retain the right to feature anonymised excerpts in case studies and portfolio work unless you object in writing.
Anything you share for the purposes of the project is treated as confidential. I’m happy to sign a separate NDA if your industry requires it.
My total liability for any project is capped at the fees paid for that project. I’m not liable for indirect or consequential losses — including loss of profit, reputation, or business — arising from the use of work I’ve delivered.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be heard in the courts of England and Wales.
Tell me a little about your project below. Even a rough idea is enough. I'll come back with a few clarifying questions and a written quote.
